Autism & AuDHD · Adults and teenagers 16-17

Adult autism and combined AuDHD assessment, online across Ireland.

Led by Dr Jean McCabe, Senior Psychologist, with a consultant psychiatrist ADHD diagnosis where both conditions are assessed. Three services, priced upfront, all by secure video.

About autism

Many adults reach 30, 40 or 50 without an answer.

Autism is a neurodevelopmental difference that shapes communication, social interaction, sensory processing, routines and how a person handles change. In adults it presents in very different ways, and many people reach adulthood without a formal assessment because they have learned to mask or adapt.

The World Health Organization estimates that about 1 in 127 people worldwide were autistic in 2021. Some adults seek assessment because they have long felt different, misunderstood or exhausted by the effort of coping socially. Others come after years of anxiety, low mood or burnout, or when ADHD and autism traits are recognised together.

Where traits of both are present, a combined AuDHD assessment considers autism and ADHD in one structured process, with each part completed by the appropriate clinician, so overlapping traits are weighed carefully rather than assessed in isolation.

Combined AuDHD assessment, adults

€2,295

For adults 18+ with traits of both autism and ADHD

The full adult autism pathway above, plus a consultant psychiatrist ADHD diagnosis, in one package:

  • Part 1 — Autism assessment. Three stages with Dr McCabe: 2-hour clinical interview, 1-hour collateral history, 1-hour feedback.
  • Part 2 — ADHD assessment. Pre-screening questionnaires, a 90-minute DIVA-5 assessment with an assistant psychologist under Dr Raaj's supervision, and a diagnosis and treatment-plan consultation with Dr Raaj, including medication options if indicated.
  • Two written reports. One for the autism assessment, one for the ADHD assessment that also records the autism outcome, so you have a complete summary of the combined assessment.

A reduced package rate, saving €205 against booking the two assessments separately.

Combined AuDHD assessment, teenagers 16-17

€2,550

For teenagers aged 16 and 17, with a parent or guardian

The same two pathways adapted for young people, with a parent involved throughout:

  • Part 1 — Autism assessment with Dr McCabe: 2-hour clinical interview, 1-hour collateral history with a parent, 1-hour feedback.
  • Part 2 — Teen ADHD assessment with Dr Raaj: Conners 4 questionnaires from teenager, parent and teacher, a 75-minute clinical interview with teenager and parent, the QbCheck objective test at home, and a 30-minute results consultation.
  • Two written reports, suitable for school supports and the DARE application.

Medication, if indicated, is started only with the consent of both the teenager and a parent. A reduced package rate, saving €300 against separate bookings.

If ADHD is diagnosed

Treatment follows the diagnosis.

If the ADHD part of a combined assessment leads to medication, your GP first checks blood pressure and heart rate, with an ECG if there is a personal or family history of heart conditions. Prescriptions go by Secure HealthMail to your GP or pharmacy, and Dr Raaj takes over titration and reviews.

After an autism diagnosis, Dr McCabe and Dr MacGillivray offer one-to-one psychological therapy and CBT for adults with autism, including for anxiety and low mood.
