AuDHD Assessment for Teenagers (Age 16 to 17)

What We Offer

An AuDHD Assessment for teenagers (ages 16–17) is a comprehensive evaluation for young people who may show traits of both Autism and ADHD. It combines both diagnostic pathways into one structured process, providing a clearer understanding of symptoms, developmental history, and the most appropriate recommendations for support, diagnosis, and treatment.

This combined pathway is designed for teenagers seeking a thorough evaluation across both conditions, with each part of the process completed by the appropriate clinician. It allows autism and ADHD to be considered carefully, including areas where traits may overlap.

Your Teenager AuDHD Assessment Journey

Part 1: Autism Assessment

The autism assessment is completed in three stages and is conducted by Dr Jean McCabe, Senior Psychologist. Teenager autism pathways commonly include a detailed clinical interview, collateral history, and a feedback session with recommendations.

  • Stage 1: Clinical Interview
A 2-hour clinical interview with Dr Jean McCabe Senior Psychologist to explore current concerns, developmental history, social communication profile, sensory experiences, routines, and broader neurodevelopmental presentation.

  • Stage 2: Collateral History
A 1-hour collateral history session with a family member, partner, or another person who knows the client well, where appropriate, to gather additional background information that may support the assessment.

  • Stage 3: Feedback and Recommendations
A 60-minute feedback session with the Senior Psychologist to discuss the assessment outcome and provide recommendations for next steps and supports.

Part 2: ADHD Assessment

The ADHD assessment is completed in four stages by Dr Shaeraine Raaj, Consultant Psychiatrist. Teenager ADHD pathways commonly include Conners 4 ADHD Questionnaire, a structured diagnostic interview including collateral history, QbCheck Continuous Performance Test and a results or treatment-planning consultation.

  • Stage 1
Completion of Conners 4 Questionnaires (online version) independently by the school teacher, parent(s), and the teenager, providing a wide-ranging perspective on symptoms and functioning across settings.

  • Stage 2: (75 minute)
A 75-minute ADHD assessment conducted via secure Zoom by our consultant psychiatrist, involving both the teenager and parent for comprehensive clinical evaluation.

  • Stage 3: (30 minute)
The Qb Test is a computer-based assessment measuring attention, impulsivity, and activity level using advanced video and sensor technology. The test will be completed by the client in their own home setting for maximum comfort and convenience. We provide a voucher code enabling the teenager to complete the Qb Test from their own computer, and we subsequently analyze the results to contribute objective data to the diagnostic process.

After Stage 3, if medication is recommended, you will be required to attend your GP for cardiovascular monitoring. This monitoring includes checking blood pressure, heart rate, height, weight, and an ECG if you or your family have a history of cardiac abnormalities or if you have a personal history of cardiac conditions.

  • Stage 4: (30 minute)
A 30-minute follow-up Zoom session to review all assessment results and collaboratively agree on a personalized treatment plan tailored to the teenager’s individual needs, strengths, and challenges. If medication is indicated and consent is obtained from both the teenager and parent, a prescription will be emailed directly to your local chemist for easy collection.

Report

Clients will receive two comprehensive reports following the assessment process. The first report covers the autism assessment and diagnosis, including findings and recommendations. The second report covers the ADHD assessment and diagnosis, and will also include the autism diagnosis to provide a complete written summary of the combined assessment.
