What an Adult ADHD Assessment in Kuala Lumpur or Selangor Actually Involves

You already know an ADHD assessment can happen online now. That part is not news, and you did not arrive here needing convincing of it. What you actually want to know is narrower, and harder to search for directly: is there a real, properly qualified person on the other end of this, based in Malaysia, or is it an anonymous overseas call centre with a Malaysian-looking website. That is a fair question, and it deserves a plain answer rather than another page telling you that ADHD assessments exist.

Video-only, nationwide — what that means in practice

MindBridge Medical's ADHD assessment is delivered over video, to adults anywhere in Malaysia, with Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Johor and Penang as priority regions for the service. That means the assessment is built the same way regardless of which state you are in — there is no branch office, no waiting room, and no version of the process that changes because you live in Petaling Jaya rather than Ipoh. If you were picturing a clinic you would drive to, that is not what this is, in Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, or anywhere else.

Who is actually doing the assessment

The clinical work is led by a consultant psychiatrist, with consultations attended by our Malaysia-based doctor. This is a genuine, qualified clinical process, not a screening chatbot or an offshore call centre reading from a script. The Malaysia-based doctor's name is not published at this time — that is a deliberate, current policy decision, not an attempt to obscure who is involved. What can be said plainly is that the assessment sits under consultant-psychiatrist-led clinical oversight, and every session is conducted by a real clinician, over video, in real time.

What the assessment actually involves

The structure is the same nationwide: a screening call, two questionnaires completed in your own time, and then a 90-minute structured interview known as a DIVA-5, conducted over video. If the interview identifies ADHD, you receive a written report and a treatment plan, with a prescription if one is indicated. If it does not, you still receive a written report — the process is built to give you an answer, not to lead you toward a particular one.

If you have already looked at the public system

Many people reading this have also looked at, or considered, the government hospital route, and it is worth naming that plainly rather than pretending it does not exist. It is a real, valid option, and for some people it is the right one. It is also a different pathway from a private, video-based assessment — a different cost, a different process, and a different person doing the assessing. This article is not the place to weigh one against the other in detail. It is only here to say: if you have been comparing options, you are not missing something by considering a private, video-led assessment as one of them.

Why "priority region" does not mean physical presence

Kuala Lumpur and Selangor are named as priority regions because a large share of the people the service reaches live in and around them, not because there is an office or physical facility there. The assessment itself does not change depending on where in Malaysia you are based, and nothing about being in KL or Selangor makes the process faster, more thorough, or different in any material way from an assessment booked from elsewhere in the country.

What to actually check before you book

If the real question behind your search was "is this legitimate," the honest answer is: judge it by the same things you would judge any clinical service by. Who is clinically responsible for it. What the process actually involves, step by step. What you receive at the end, whether or not the result is a diagnosis. This article has tried to answer all three plainly, without asking you to take anything on faith.

Where to go from here

If you are still weighing it up, our free 10-question self-check takes about two minutes, is private, and nothing is stored. If you are ready to move forward, you can book an assessment. It starts with a short screening call — not a commitment to treatment or anything further.

This article is general information, not medical advice, and does not diagnose. MindBridge Medical provides consultant psychiatrist-led ADHD assessment and treatment online across Malaysia. Consultations are attended by our Malaysia-based doctor under the clinical supervision of Dr Shaeraine Raaj, Consultant Psychiatrist.
